Hi Tom, Thanks for your reply. I really get what you say. I have two adult brothers with dyspraxia/DCD and they are high functioning individuals in society who have just had to take their own time to find out how to make things work for them. I'm always telling parents that dyspraxia/DCD is not a significant diagnosis, rather an understanding of what supports their children need to reach their own potential. Thanks for your comment, much appreciated.Cathy

I too had a micro preemie-- 3 lbs 4 oucens. He was delivered at 28 weeks. we did need physical therapy for gross motor delays bc he still could not lift his head at 9 months. Therapy was amazing. Fast forward to 6 years later and youd NEVER know he had such a rough start--- perfectly normal in every way :)Best of luck

I actually agree, I don't like the term hieddn disability' or Handicap', but that's just what Dyspraxia is and has been labelled with and so I put it up here so people can understand that they are the same thing. Also it's a thing that by making it out to be cheery and a walk in the park' then people will have not a clue. If I come out with the negative people will become more aware that this is a real life problem and not something we just made up. In order to raise awareness this was the direction I decided to take. However I will make sure it all balances out (like stating the positives behind Dyspraxia!) Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it!

Aw I know the feeling . I have three teenagers. They don't say " I hate you" now . It's more like " you love him more than me or she's the golden child" . When they are not angry or upset I take them aside and tell them how much I love them all the same very dearly and that sometimes one would have different needs than the other . They would generally agree with me . However we do have more good days than bad . I am a very easy going mother but I do still nag . But they all come to me spontaneously for cuddles even at the ages of 14 , 15 and 17 . It's the best feeling in the world .
